Privacy Policy
Most of what Smart Copy Pro does never leaves your browser.
This page explains exactly what data Smart Copy Pro touches, what — if anything — is sent anywhere, and why. It's written to be read in full, not skimmed past.
Stays on your device
- Webpage text, links, tables, and images you copy or extract
- Names, emails, and phone numbers found on pages you scan
- Your copy history, settings, and saved templates
- Which element you right-clicked (used, then discarded)
Sent to verify a purchase
- A random install ID (not tied to your name or email)
- A license key, to confirm it's genuine
- Payment details — handled entirely by Razorpay, never by us
Overview
Smart Copy Pro is a browser extension for copying and extracting content from webpages — clean text, links, tables, emails, phone numbers, and similar. It does this work locally, inside your browser, using your device's own processing. No account or login is required to use it.
The extension also offers a paid tier: after a combined 30 minutes of free use, unlocking further access requires a one-time payment processed by Razorpay. That payment flow is the only part of Smart Copy Pro that involves a server, and this policy describes it in full below.
We wrote this policy to describe what actually happens in the code, not what sounds reassuring. If a future version changes any of this, we'll update this page and the "last updated" date above.
What stays on your device
These features read or process webpage content, but the result only ever goes to your clipboard or your browser's local storage — never to us, never to anyone else:
- Copying and extraction — clean text, plain text, Markdown, links, tables (CSV/TSV/image), image URLs, citations, and Smart Extract's directory-style scraping (names, websites, emails, phone numbers found on a page you're viewing).
- Copy history — the last 20 (or, with a paid license, up to 500) actions you've performed, stored in your browser's local storage so you can copy something again later. Clearing it or uninstalling the extension removes it.
- Settings and templates — your cleanup preferences, appearance, and any Smart Extract templates you save, stored locally the same way.
- Right-click targeting — a small script notices which element on the page you right-clicked, so the menu can act on the right table, image, or link. This reference is used for that single action and isn't logged, saved, or sent anywhere.
What we ask you to send us
Exactly two things leave your device, and only if you choose to use or verify a paid subscription:
1. An install ID
The first time you open the checkout page, we generate a random identifier on your device (something like scp_k3f8a2...) and pass it along with your order. It isn't derived from your name, email, or any account — it exists purely so we can match a payment to a license if you ever need support.
2. Your license key, when you activate or renew it
After payment, you're shown a license key. When you paste it into the extension to activate Pro, we check that key against our server to confirm it's genuine and not expired. That check sends only the key itself — nothing about the page you were on, what you'd copied, or your browsing.
3. Payment details — which we never see
The actual payment screen is a separate webpage (not part of the extension) that loads Razorpay's own checkout. Card numbers, UPI IDs, and similar are entered directly into Razorpay's interface and processed by Razorpay under their own security and privacy practices — they never pass through our server or the extension in a form we could read or store.
Permissions, explained
Chrome requires an extension to declare upfront what it can access. Here's what each permission Smart Copy Pro requests is actually used for:
| Permission | What it's for |
|---|---|
contextMenus | Adds the "Smart Copy Pro" right-click menu. |
storage | Saves your settings, history, and license status on your device only. |
activeTab | Lets the extension read the page you're on, only at the moment you click a menu item or popup button — not continuously, and not on tabs you haven't interacted with. |
scripting | Runs the extension's copy/extract logic in the current tab, only when you trigger an action. |
downloads | Saves files you explicitly export (a table as an image, your history as a backup) to your Downloads folder. |
| Host permission (our server) | Lets the extension check a license key against our server. Scoped to our domain only — no other site. |
Optional: tabs + all sites | Only requested, with an explicit Chrome permission prompt, if you turn on Batch Extraction — which reads titles/URLs of your open tabs to scan several at once. Off by default, and never granted silently. |
Third parties
The only third party involved anywhere in Smart Copy Pro is Razorpay, which processes payment for the paid tier. We share your install ID with Razorpay as an order reference; Razorpay separately collects whatever payment information it needs to complete your transaction, governed by its own privacy policy, available at razorpay.com/privacy.
We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking services of any kind. We do not sell, rent, or otherwise share your data with anyone else.
Storage & deletion
History, settings, templates, and your license status are stored in your browser's local storage for as long as the extension is installed. You can clear history from within the extension at any time, or remove everything at once by uninstalling it — Chrome deletes an extension's local storage automatically on removal.
On our server, we keep a plain record of successful payments (order ID, payment ID, install ID, amount, and license duration) for support and accounting purposes. We don't keep a copy of anything you've copied or extracted — that data was never sent to us in the first place.
Children's privacy
Smart Copy Pro is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone in that age group. If you believe a child has provided us information (for example, via a payment made without a parent's knowledge), contact us and we'll remove it.
Changes to this policy
If how Smart Copy Pro handles data changes, we'll update this page and move the "last updated" date at the top. We won't introduce a materially different data practice without reflecting it here first.
