Privacy Policy — Job Opening Alert

Job Opening Alert ("the Extension," "we," "us") is a Chrome extension that monitors career pages and job search results chosen by the user, and notifies them when a new job posting is detected. This policy explains what information the Extension collects, how it's used, and your choices.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Stored only in your browser (never sent to us)

The following stays entirely on your device, in your browser's local storage, and is never transmitted to our servers or anyone else:

The career page URLs and job search pages you choose to monitor
The specific page section you select to track for each monitor
Job postings detected on those pages (title, link, location, snippet)
Your history of detected changes and alerts
Your keyword filters, notification preferences, and other settings

Uninstalling the Extension, or clearing your browser's extension data, permanently deletes all of this — we have no copy of it.

1.2 Sent to our server

Name and email address	When you sign in to use the Extension	To identify your account and let you sign in again after reinstalling or switching browsers
Email address	When you upgrade to Pro	To email you a backup copy of your license key, and to verify that the account activating a license matches the account that purchased it
A randomly generated device identifier	When you activate a Pro license	To enforce a limit on how many devices can use one paid license at a time. This is a random token generated locally — it is not tied to any real hardware identifier and cannot identify your device to anyone else

1.3 Payment information

We do not collect, see, process, or store your payment details (card number, UPI ID, bank information, etc.) at any point. Payments are handled entirely by Razorpay, a third-party payment processor, on their own secure, hosted checkout page. Please refer to Razorpay's own privacy policy for how they handle your payment data.

2. How We Use Information

To let you sign in and use the Extension across devices/reinstalls
To verify and manage your Pro subscription and license key
To send you a backup copy of your license key by email
To enforce the per-license device limit described above

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or analytics, and we do not sell or rent your information to anyone.

3. Data Sharing

We do not share your personal information with third parties, except:

Razorpay — processes your payment when you upgrade to Pro. They receive whatever payment details you provide directly to them on their checkout page; we never see or store this.
Our email delivery provider — used solely to send you your license key backup email.

We do not sell your data. We do not share your data for advertising or cross-context behavioral tracking. We do not use your data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.

4. Data Retention

Locally stored data (monitors, history, settings) stays until you uninstall the Extension or clear its storage yourself.
Your name, email, and license records on our server are retained for as long as you have an account, so you can sign back in or reactivate a license. You may request deletion at any time (see Section 7).

5. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the limited information stored on our server. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Children's Privacy

The Extension is not directed at children under 13 (or the relevant age of digital consent in your region), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Your Rights & Choices

You can stop using the Extension and uninstall it at any time, which removes all locally stored data.
You can sign out from Settings → About within the Extension at any time.
You can request that we delete your name, email, and license records from our server by contacting us (see below).
You can export or clear your local monitors/history/settings at any time from within the Extension's Settings page.

8. Permissions We Request & Why

Permission	Why we need it
`storage`	Save your monitors, settings, and history locally in your browser.
`alarms`	Schedule periodic background checks of the pages you're monitoring.
`notifications`	Show a desktop alert when a new job posting is detected.
`tabs`	Open the career page being checked, and detect/reuse the Extension's own dashboard tab.
`scripting`	Let you select which part of a page to monitor, and read that section during checks.
Host permissions (all sites)	You can choose to monitor any career page or job board — we can't predict in advance which sites you'll add.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
